OK all you CSI fans, this one is for you! Poaching and the illegal trafficking in animals parts are world-wide and rampant. After being laughed out of the FBI forensics lab, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service opened its own forensics lab. In addition to forensics, the author delves into the cultural traditions involved in these cases, such as Arctic Native Americans tring to maintain the truth of their subsistence culture, much of it based on hunting walruses and using the entire animal. The biology, the anthropology and the politics make for interesting reading. An easily readable and intriguing book.
